BHOPAL / Barwani collector has been conferred with the Chief Minister Excellence Award for outstanding performance across Madhya Pradesh in Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY) Urban.

Madhya Pradesh governor Mangubhai Patel and CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan honoured the district collector Barwani with the award in a grand ceremony organised in Bhopal on Monday. A sum of Rs 10 Lakh cash for the district was also rewarded along with the award to the collector in the event.

Under the leadership of collector Singh, the district has excellently performed across the state to provide pucca houses to eligible beneficiaries in urban areas under the PMAY.

“I dedicate this award to the team of officials and employees who have been working hard to provide benefits of the scheme to eligible beneficiaries on the ground level, and to the residents of the district too”, the collector Barwani Singh told The Sun Today.

“The amount that is received as the award to the district will be spent on the development of the hamlets being constructed under PMAY, at Ashagram trust for leprosy patients and Roop Nagar”, the collector said.

Notably, 66 houses have been sanctioned by the collector for leprosy patients who have been living in Kushth Asram at Ashgram trust premises since 1980. And 29 families in the slum area Hagariya Phaliya have also been granted PM houses.

The collector also said that regular reviews in TL meetings to check the status and monitoring at the top to the bottom level and field visits to improve the progress, have given us fruitful results in implementing the scheme in the district. Barwani has also performed excellently in the Mukhyamantri Jan Sewa Abhiyan, a saturation programme taken by CM Chouhan to cover the state and central government beneficiary schemes.

The district has been performing well in various segments since Singh joined as a collector, as it has been on the top-two rankings in the country’s Aspirational Districts Programme (ADP) for the last five months.

Barwani has been included among the 112 most underdeveloped districts of the country in the Government of India NITI Aayog’s ADP.
