Gwalior Zila Panchayat Ranks Second in State in Implementing Rural Development Schemes

BHOPAL /  Gwalior Zila Panchayat achieved the second rank with the A+ grade in the entire Madhya Pradesh in implementing the village development schemes for the month of May, 2021, as recently released a grading list of Panchayat and Rural Development (PRD) department for all 51 districts. The district has jumped to second from 34th place within a period of three months only.

The state PRD department has on Thursday released a grading list of all Zila Panchayats (ZP) on the basis of implementing eight common basic schemes going on in the entire state. In which Gwalior ZP got second place while Bhopal and Indore ZPs secured the first and the third rank respectively.

Kishore Kanyal, an IAS (Indian Administrative Services) officer had taken charge of Gwalior ZP as a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in February this year.

Gwalior ZP was on 34th rank as a released ranking list of February month but after joining Kanyal as CEO it touched the second place in May month by improving its rank gradually from 8th to 3rd place in March and April months.

The PRD department has done a grading of all the district ZPs on the basis of eight common schemes which are being run in the rural areas in the state. These schemes are the State Rural Livelihoods Mission (SRLM), National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS), Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY), Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), Mid-Day Meal (MDM), Swachchh Bharat Mission (SBM), Panchayat and Chief Minister Helpline.

“When I took the charge as the CEO, the ZP was on 34th place in the grading list released for February month but due to appropriate planning, deep monitoring, and teamwork, we got this achievement. Its credit goes to our team”, CE), ZP Gwalior Kishore Kanyal told The Sun Today

“First of all, we set some parameters to implement the schemes in the district and trained and motivated the field staff and engineers of the department. They executed the task determined as per the parameters. It gave us success to perform better at the state level,” on asking about the strategy for implementing the schemes, Kanyal said

ZP Gwalior secured a total of 34 numbers and 4.25 average numbers in the overall grading. It achieved an overall A+ grade while it bagged A, A, B, D, A, A, A and B grades in implementing the individual schemes SRLM, NREGS, PMKSY, PMAY, MDM, SBM, Panchayat and CM Helpline respectively.

“We are optimistic and trying to do our best to implement the government schemes, the district is also focusing to get soon the first rank in the state in near future”, the CEO added.
