Bhamashah award ceremony: Taxpayers have important contribution to state development, CM Chouhan says

BHOPAL / Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that taxpayers have an important contribution to the development of the state while addressing the Bhamashah award ceremony organised to felicitate businessmen in Bhopal on Thursday.CM Chouhan also said that earning money honestly and paying taxes honestly is an important service.

The CM felicitated the businessmen who deposited the highest tax in 2020-21 and 2021-22 with the Bhamashah Award. A total of 10 awards of 5 categories each were presented at the ceremony. The purpose of instituting the Bhamashah Award is to encourage suppliers who will deposit the highest tax under provisions of the Goods and Services Tax Act in MP.

“The economic progress of the state is getting new dimensions. With the cooperation of industry and trade sector, and with the participation of citizens, we are engaged in building a prosperous, prosperous and developed MP’ said Chouhan.

Finance and Commercial Tax Minister Jagdish Deora said that industrialists and businessmen, who have contributed to the development of the state by paying taxes honestly on time, have also supported CM Chouhan’s resolve to make MP a leading state.

CM Chouhan and Minister Deora released the booklet “Megha Welcome Kit”. Simultaneously, a WhatsApp-based Hindi chatbot was launched. A short film produced by the department was screened at the function.

Principal Secretary Commercial Tax Deepali Rastogi welcomed CM Chouhan. The programme started with Madhya Pradesh Anthem. Information regarding efforts made to ensure efficient tax administration, use of information technology to check tax evasion and efforts to provide online facilities to the taxpayers through simple Hindi in the state was given.

Commissioner of the department, Lokesh Jatav informed that 26 per cent more revenue has been received from GST this year as compared to last year.

At the state level, 5 categories of suppliers have been created for awards. The first category includes suppliers whose turnover in a financial year is less than Rs 1.5 crore. The second category includes suppliers which are more than Rs 1.50 crore but less than Rs 50 crore. The third categories have suppliers whose turnover is more than Rs 50 crore but less than Rs 500 crore. The fourth category includes suppliers whose turnover in the financial year is more than Rs 500 crore. The fifth category is that of government departments and public undertakings.
