Madhya Pradesh Emerges as Leading State in PMAY-Urban Implementation
BHOPAL/Madhya Pradesh has emerged as one of the leading states in the country in the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), with more than 10 lakh houses sanctioned under the scheme.
Urban Administration and Development Department Commissioner Sanket Bhondve said the state has achieved significant progress in providing permanent housing to economically weaker urban families. He said Madhya Pradesh has secured a strong national position in housing construction and delivery to beneficiaries under the flagship central scheme.
Bhondve stated that the state has ranked first in the country in geo-tagging of houses under PMAY-Urban. As many as 98.04 per cent of the sanctioned houses have been geo-tagged, reflecting effective implementation, continuous monitoring and a time-bound execution mechanism.
He added that the construction of over nine lakh houses has already been completed and handed over to eligible beneficiaries. The scheme has helped thousands of families realise their dream of owning a permanent house, bringing positive changes in their living standards, social security and dignity.
The PMAY-Urban scheme aims to provide safe and dignified housing to economically weaker sections, low-income groups and middle-income families in urban areas. Financial assistance is provided to beneficiaries for the construction of houses equipped with basic amenities.
The commissioner said Madhya Pradesh has consistently delivered strong performance at the national level due to effective implementation, regular monitoring and timely execution of projects. He added that the department is ensuring that every eligible urban family receives the benefits of the housing scheme on time.
Bhondve further said the scheme has not only accelerated housing construction in the state but has also contributed to infrastructure development in urban areas, employment generation and socio-economic empowerment. He said the state government would continue efforts for effective and quality implementation of the scheme in the future as well.
