CM Chouhan Decorates Senior IPS Arvind Saxena with President’s Police Medal for Gallantry

BHOPAL / Additional Transport Commissioner Enforcement (ATCE) Arvind Saxena was decorated with President’s Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) by Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday during the celebration of State Police Foundation Day.

Saxena is a 2006 batch IPS (Indian police services) officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, was announced President’s Police Medal by the Union ministry for Home Affaires for gallantry on the occasion of Republic Day, 2021. The Medal was to be handed over to Saxena on Independence day, 2021.

Presently, Saxena is on deputation as an additional commissioner in the Transport Department and posted in Gwalior where the headquarters of the Transport Department of Madhya Pradesh state is situated.

The Medals have been given to the then Superintendent of Police of North Bhopal, Saxena, and his colleague additional SP Dharam Veer Singh for their handling of the law and order situation in 2017 in the state capital. Dharm Veer is currently posted as an SP in the Satna district.
The state capital was gripped with communal tension among the two groups when a building structure allegedly claimed to be a mosque at the extension of Hamidia hospital came under demolition.

SP Saxena along with his team of police personnel had saved the life of 20 people of both the communities who had been stuck in two buildings where around 15,000 aggressive crowds had been gathered from each group. The police fired around 300 tear smoke shells and water cannon and they had successfully controlled the situation without any casualties in this major police operation and protected the city from a large riot that may have happened.

Addressing the police personnel and officers on the occasion, the CM said ensuring women”s safety, eliminating the drug mafia, and controlling cyber crimes are major challenges before state police. Recalling services of policemen, Chouhan said 877 personnel attained martyrdom from the establishment of the state,1956 to 2020 while discharging their duties with indomitable courage and devotion.
CM also inspected the police parade and march past. On the occasion, State’s Home minister Narottam Mishra, Additional Chief Secretary of Home department Rajesh Rajoura, and director general of police Vivek Johri were present.
