MP CM Yadav Welcomes Bhojshala Verdict, Says Efforts Will be Made to Bring Back Vagdevi Idol
BHOPAL/Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Friday welcomed the MP High Court verdict in the decades-old Bhojshala dispute in Dhar district and said the state government would make efforts through legal and diplomatic channels to bring back the idol of Goddess Vagdevi from the United Kingdom.
Speaking to media persons in Bhopal, the Chief Minister said the court had recognised Bhojshala as the historic site associated with King Bhoj and Goddess Vagdevi (Saraswati), which had established the cultural and spiritual significance of the place centuries ago.
Welcoming the judgment, Yadav said the government would work in a lawful manner to restore the glory of the site and initiate efforts for the return of the Vagdevi idol currently located overseas.
Congratulating the people of the state on the verdict, the Chief Minister appealed for peace and social harmony. Referring to the post-verdict atmosphere following the Ayodhya judgment, he said the country had set an example of communal harmony and mutual respect after accepting the court’s decision.
“Madhya Pradesh can become another such ideal example if all communities accept the judicial verdict in a spirit of brotherhood and make it a permanent solution,” he said.
Yadav also expressed confidence that further efforts would be made in future to enhance the historical and cultural significance of Bhojshala.
